About Kevin M Connolly, DO
Dr. Connolly is a primary care sports medicine physician who specializes in the care of athletes of all ages and levels of competition, providing timely evaluations and prompt return-to-play decisions. His primary focus includes treating acute and chronic sports or exercise-related injuries, such as sports concussions, joint, muscle, and tendon injuries, fractures, and neck and back pain. He also manages medical conditions like exercise-induced asthma, skin infections, and energy deficiency syndromes, and is available to assist with preparticipation sports physicals. As a team physician, he collaborates with athletic trainers, team officials and families and provides on-site care at games and mass sporting events.
With expertise in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) and advanced musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures (e.g., steroid injections), Dr. Connolly offers alternative treatment options for athletes. Additionally, he is trained in needle barbotage, percutaneous needle tenotomy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, and cryoneurolysis nerve ablation.
Before joining Elliot Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Dr. Connolly served as a team physician for Colby College, Thomas College, and various high schools. He also provided care at major sporting events, including the Boston Marathon, Beach to Beacon 10K, and the Augusta Half-Ironman.
A member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) and the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (NEACSM), Dr. Connolly is committed to education and research. He has shared his expertise on topics such as sports concussions, rotator cuff injuries, and rock-climbing injuries through teaching roles and presentations at regional and national conferences.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Connolly enjoys hiking in the White Mountains, rock climbing, running, painting, and playing board games.
