Alan E. Garstka, MD, FACC has been at the Elliot Hospital since 1982. He particularly enjoys the interaction and relationships he has developed over the years with his patients. He was the first invasive cardiologist at the Elliot Hospital and later developed the interventional program. During an intervention, a coronary artery is opened either electively or in the setting of an acute heart attack. Dr. Garstka has worked hard to make our “door to balloon times” for an acute heart attack intervention among the best in the nation. This expediency reduces heart attack size and improves patient survival. He prioritizes risk factor modifications in his clinical practice.
