About Jay A Lorah, DO

Dr. Jay Lorah, D.O., a board-certified family practice physician, earned a Doctor of Osteopathy from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glen Cove, N.Y., and a Bachelor of Comprehensive Science from Villanova University in Villanova, Penn.

Dr. Lorah completed a traditional rotating osteopathic internship and a family practice residency at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, N.Y.

He focuses on preventative health and wellness management and the treatment of acute and chronic conditions for patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatrics.

“I like family medicine because I get to care for the whole patient – mind, body and soul – and not just one part of the body,” Dr. Lorah says. “I also get to care for the whole family, sometimes three to four generations, and learn about their family life which allows me to really individualize their healthcare.”

He says one of the most rewarding aspects of his practice is working together with a patient to modify their lifestyle to a point “where they are able to come off their medications for diabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol.”

“The ideal doctor-patient relationship for me is one where there is open communication between me and the patient and we develop a plan of care regarding their condition that we both can agree on in working toward optimal health,” Dr. Lorah says.

In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his wife and eight children, working on their small farm and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.
