About Ido S Preis, MD
Dr. Ido Preis, M.D., a board-certified non-invasive cardiologist, has joined the staff at Elliot Cardiovascular Consultants and is accepting new patients.
He earned a Doctor of Medicine at Brown Medical School and a B.A. in history at Brown University in Providence, R.I., where he was enrolled in the B.A.-M.D. continuum program. Dr. Preis completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Boston University Medical Center.
Most recently, he was director of nuclear cardiology and sports cardiology at Catholic Medical Center/New England Heart and Vascular Institute in Manchester.
“What I love about cardiology is its diversity,” Dr. Preis says. “In the same day, I could see an elite college athlete who is trying to reach his or her highest level and a few minutes later I could see an elderly end-stage heart failure patient who has just been discharged from the hospital.”
He says he chose cardiology for many reasons, including the availability of the amazing advancements in the past 50 years in both medications and procedures that have improved patients’ quality of life and longevity. In addition, he has always been interested in technology, and cardiology is an incredibly high-tech field.
Dr. Preis’s areas of interest include preventive cardiology, sports cardiology, and using non-invasive technology to assess and diagnose cardiovascular problems.
“Cardiology is an ever-changing field, which is what makes it exciting,” he says. “You have to stay on top of your game to provide patients with the best care possible.”
Fluent in Hebrew, Dr. Preis is married with two young sons. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, watching comedies, and is an admitted coffee connoisseur.
