As a member of the hospital surgical team, the surgical technician will assist the surgeon and other members of the operative team throughout the operative process to facilitate optimal patient outcomes during surgical procedures within the hospital. This program is designed to teach and develop the skills recognized by the National Center for Competency Testing as a surgery-certified technician and will help to prepare for successful completion of the national surgical technician certification exam.
The program runs for 16 weeks and includes online didactic, skill labs, and in-person instruction/experience focused on the job preparation, exam preparation, and learning the hospital surgical environment. Complementing the classroom learning, this Registered Apprenticeship program has 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training.
