Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (3D Mammography)
Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is an advanced form of mammography that uses low dose x-rays and computer reconstructions to create three-dimensional images of the breast. DBT has proven to be better at finding breast cancer than traditional 2D mammograms. Knowing this, we perform DBT on all mammograms.
Breast Ultrasound
A breast ultrasound is a non-invasive, radiation-free imaging test that uses sound waves. Ultrasound is often used as a follow-up test after an abnormal finding on a mammogram. Radiologists use ultrasound to tell the difference between fluid-filled cysts and solid masses.
Breast MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the inside of the breast. MRI can be used to measure the size of a cancerous tumor, to look for other tumors, and to check for tumors in the opposite breast. MRI may also be used to screen for breast cancer in women who are at high risk.
3D Breast Biopsy
We are proud to offer the Hologic Affirm® Prone Biopsy System and the Hologic Brevera® Breast Biopsy System, the newest and most streamlined biopsy systems available. These two pieces of technology work together so radiologists can perform 3D mammogram-guided biopsies while producing real-time imaging during the procedure. These advanced technologies significantly improve the patient experience, reduce the time of the biopsy procedure, and give our radiologists what they need to offer fast and accurate results.
