Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation Holds 4th Annual Walk for Hope to Support Cancer Patients
Elliot Health System held the 4th Annual Elliot Health System Walk for Hope on June 12, 2022. Close to 500 community members and cancer survivors gathered at Elliot Hospital to walk in honor of patients, family members and friends, raising funds for patient care and supportive services at the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at The Elliot. The original goal of raising $50,000 was exceeded with a total of $60,000 received in support. Speakers included Scott MacFarland, grateful patient and cancer survivor and Dr. Brian Knab, Medical Director of Radiation Oncology.
“The sense of community and support for our cancer patients is felt so clearly during our Walk for Hope. During the event, the wife of a patient who participated in the Walk said there was no place they’d rather be, even though it was their 40th wedding anniversary,” said Kelli Rafferty, Executive Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement for Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation.
Thank you to all who participated in this inspirational event,” said Anne Marie Hafeman, Director of Volunteer Resources and Community Engagement. ”Every person who contributes makes a real impact for people who are on their cancer journey. All proceeds from the Walk for Hope provide funding for programs and services at the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at The Elliot including social services, nutrition assistance, transportation support, rehabilitation therapy, integrative medicine, and collaboration with community services.”
