Congratulations, Leeann Sims, DAISY® Award Winner!

Congratulations to Leeann Sims for receiving the DAISY® Award for Extraordinary Nurses!  

Honorees are nominated by patients or peers to show gratitude for the compassionate care nurses like Leeann provide each day. 

Leeann works on the Labor and Delivery Unit at Elliot Hospital. She goes above and beyond to treat her patients with compassion and kindness. In her nomination for this award, a former patient who experienced a high-risk pregnancy said, “Leeann is special breed of nurse. She took my concerns seriously and gave the support and education I needed.” She continued, “As a grown woman, and a nurse who had always been pretty private, nothing quite makes you so humble or vulnerable as needing someone else to help you take care of yourself. Leeann helped make my story one of gratitude for nurses that care about not only the outcomes and interventions, but the experience of the patient.”

Patient Advocacy: The nominee serves as a voice for patients by advocating for their best interests above all others without regard to inconvenience, lack of resources, or other barriers.
