About The Center for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine

History of Elliot Wound Center and Hyperbaric Medicine

The Elliot Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, located next to the lobby of the hospital, opened in 1999. The office operated 2 hyperbaric chambers and had 4 treatment rooms. At that time, the Elliot Hospital was collaborating with Diversified, a national organization to assist in running the hyperbaric chambers and starting up the wound center. Between 2003 and 2004, the Elliot Wound Center separated from Diversified and purchased its first hyperbaric chamber. In March 2011, the office moved to the beautiful newly constructed outpatient facility, Rivers Edge. The hyperbaric chamber was the first piece of medical equipment brought into the building; it was even brought in before construction was completed. The walls of the chamber room were actually built around the chamber due to its size and weight.

In January 2012, we welcomed a New Medical Director to the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Razvi came to the Wound Center with more than 40 years of experience in wounds as well as a wealth of knowledge from being a prominent General and Vascular Surgeon in the Boston area. In June of 2012, a second hyperbaric chamber was added. When the New Hampshire Magazine 2013 edition was published, Dr. Razvi was voted as one of the top Wound Care Doctors in New Hampshire. The years that followed, 2014 and 2015, both Dr. Razvi and Dr. Elder were voted Top Doc’s for wound care.

To date, The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine provides wound care services in multiple extended care facilities in the Manchester area, as well as in our inpatient facility, and here at the outpatient clinic. The department has expanded to include 8 treatment rooms and 2 hyperbaric chambers. Our center continues to grow and we recognize that hard work and commitment is needed to provide Excellent Research Based Patient Centered Care. Not only do we have 2 providers on the Top Doc list, but we now have 2 Nurse Practitioners certified in wound care and 4 nurses certified in Hyperbaric Medicine. Our highly trained office staff is waiting to schedule new consultations, follow up appointments, and assist you in coordinating your care with other departments/specialties that may work in collaboration with the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. They work very hard to book new patient consultations on the day they receive the information. The Wound Center will also assist in coordinating your care with your Primary Care Physician, Endocrinology, Physical/Occupational therapy, Visiting Nurses and anyone else who is involved in your health care. The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is open Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm. The department also has a provider on call after clinic hours.

Special Interest Facts

Our hyperbaric chamber was once used by a gentleman who traveled all the way from Greece, to receive the 40 treatments here in the US at the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine.

Our youngest patient in Hyperbaric Therapy was a 1 year old being treated with his entire family for Carbon Monoxide poisoning. This was back when Diversified was working with the Elliot and the hyperbaric chamber was available 24 hours a day. Unfortunately these services are no longer available 24 hours a day, but we continue to treat patients of all ages from 1-101.

The treatment rooms in the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine are named after symbols of the great State of New Hampshire. Can you name them all?

The following links recognize Dr. Razvi and Dr. Elder as New Hampshire’s Top Wound Care Docs.
