Meet Our Providers

John Poremba, MD
Dr. Poremba is Board certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism, as well as Internal Medicine. Prior to joining Elliot Health System, he served as Chief of Medical Staff and Staff Endocrinologist at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. Dr. Poremba has been a member of the U.S. Air Force since 1983. He received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland and completed his residency at Keesler Air Force Medical Center, Biloxi, Mississippi. He obtained his Fellowship in Endocrinolgy at Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas.

Annaswamy Raji, MD
Dr. Annaswamy Raji MD, M.M.Sc, FACE is Board Certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism, as well as Internal Medicine. Prior to joining the Elliot Health System, she served as the Director of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Harrington Hospital, Southbridge MA. Dr. Raji completed Fellowship in Endocrinology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She has also completed Masters in Medical Science at Harvard Medical School, Boston MA. Dr. Raji served as Director for Medical Weight Management Program at the Brigham for over 3 years and practiced as a diabetes, metabolism and obesity expert at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital for over 10 years. Dr. Raji brings with her a vast endocrine experience and expertise to treat various endocrine disorders including diabetes, obesity, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, osteoporosis, bone metabolism, post bariatric surgery endocrine complications, male and female hormonal problems. Dr. Raji completed her Medical School in India, had training in United Kingdom and completed her Residency at Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan before moving to Boston to start her Fellowship and Practice.

Shellie Hafer, APRN
Shellie Hafer, APRN is certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.   Prior to joining Elliot Endocrinology Associates, she worked at the Diabetes and Endocrine Center and Capital Endocrine Associates in Raleigh, NC.  She graduated from Duke University, Durham, NC with a Masters of Nursing in Acute Care and Cardiovascular Medicine in 2004.  Her undergraduate degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio in 2002 and an Associate of Science of Nursing from New Mexico Junior College, Hobbs, NM in 1992.  She has worked in several states as an ICU nurse prior to completing her Master's degree.   She has enjoyed working in Endocrinology since 2006.
