Services

Bone densitometry is a method of determining bone mass loss by measuring radiation absorption through the skeleton. A bone densitometer uses painless radiographic imaging to evaluate and measure the density of the bone in your spine, hips, or forearms.

A computerized tomography (CT) scan combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles around your body and uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images (slices) of the bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues inside your body.

Learn More

Mammography is one of the best tools for the early detection of breast cancer. This unique X-ray can show changes in the breast up to two years before you or your doctor can feel them, which greatly improves treatment options.

The Elliot has three state-of-the-art, open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines that help radiologists diagnose disease, injuries, infections, and inflammatory conditions affecting the body.

Learn More

Nuclear medicine uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of or treat various diseases and bodily abnormalities.

Learn More

A positron emission tomography (PET) scan is an imaging test that uses a radioactive substance to reveal the metabolic or biochemical function of tissues and organs affected by cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders.

Learn More

Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves that bounce off internal tissues to produce images of the organs in the body. With our state-of-the-art equipment and highly skilled sonographers, we ensure that you get the best exam possible.

Learn More

Interventional vascular radiology uses minimally invasive techniques and imaging guidance to perform diagnostic tests and procedures that can replace conventional surgery.

Learn More

An X-ray uses a small amount of radiation to create images of your bones, joints, and internal organs. X-rays are most often used to produce well-defined images that help your provider give you the best care possible.

Low-dose CT lung screening is an easy, noninvasive CT (computed tomography) scan of the lungs that requires a minimal amount of radiation exposure and is performed in just a few minutes.

Discontinuation of Lead Shielding for Radiation-Based Imaging

We discontinued the routine use of lead shielding for patients receiving radiation-based imaging exams (X-ray, CT scans) at The Elliot. This change is based on the best scientific evidence available and supported by multiple national medical organizations, including the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the American College of Radiology (ACR). Many healthcare organizations across the globe have already shifted their practice based on this guidance.

Lead shields were introduced in the 1950s to protect the testes, ovaries, or fetus. However, more than 50 years of research have shown that shielding provides little to no benefit and could increase the amount of radiation used for the exam. In addition, modern advancements in imaging technology capture better images while using much less radiation.

We are committed to continually evaluating our practices and updating our technology to provide you with safe care. We encourage you to discuss additional questions or concerns with your provider or radiologist.

Imaging Locations

Basic X-rays, such as a chest, abdomen, hand, foot, etc., can be done as a walk-in during regular business hours at any of our convenient locations with an order from your provider in hand. If your provider is an Elliot or Southern New Hampshire Health provider, the order will be in the system with no need for a written order.  All other procedures listed below are scheduled with central scheduling at 603-663-2180.  Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Cat Scan, MRI, and Interventional Radiology procedures are scheduled with nursing staff at 603-663-4150.
